Introducing RADAR

RADAR is a research data repository that delivers a comprehensive archival and publication service to institutions and researchers. RADAR provides long term value and secure storage for safeguarding and managing research data resulting from completed research projects.

Please note you need to have a contract with us for the long-term storage of your data. The contract is subject to an additional annual service fee of €500.00 (ex VAT). If you need to store more than 50 terabytes of data in RADAR, please contact us for a tailor-made offer.

Data Archival

RADAR offers format-independent preservation services to store data in compliance with specified long-term storage periods.

Data Publication

RADAR offers a combined service of research data publication and permanent preservation to make your research data citable, traceable and reusable.

Data Peer Review

RADAR gives you an easy way to share the research data associated with your publications with reviewers before being published.

How we work with institutions

·         RADAR is designed and delivered by the research community for the research community.

·        Our services provide your institution with a simple way to securely store, share and manage the research data outputs from your organisation in compliance with German and European legislation.

·          To assist your organisation with reporting, RADAR administrators can use metrics including view and download statistics.

·         Using quotas RADAR allows you to plan ahead and manage the costs involved in archiving and publishing your data.

How we support researchers

·         To maximise the impact of your research RADAR supports researchers to organise, publish, cite, find, share and securely archive their research data.

·         With RADAR you can link your research data to your publications. Using a secure URL, you can share your research data with an editor or reviewer responsible for a corresponding manuscript submission before publication.

·         Research data are a valuable resource that may have a significant value beyond the usage of the original research. With RADAR you can control which parts of your research data are public or private.

·         When you publish data, you should provide licence information to tell other users how they may use your data. You can choose what licence to apply to your data in RADAR.

RADAR Features

We understand that the reserach community are really busy. RADAR is here to help you archive and publish your research data with as little effort as possible.

Bitstream Preservation

We preserve your research data bit for bit, for decades. No matter which format you use or how you organise your data.

Peer Review Link

Share your datasets with reviewers then disable the link

Temporärer Speicher

Laden Sie Ihre Forschungsdaten in RADAR und organisieren und beschreiben Sie diese im temporären Speicher, bevor Sie die Daten zur Archivierung oder Publikation freigeben.

Explain how your data was created to ensure that it can be understood in the future.

Automate your research workflows.

Verwahren Sie Ihre Forschungsdaten zuverlässig im RADAR Datenzentrum, entweder sicher archiviert für den privaten Zugriff oder öffentlich publiziert. Komplett unter deutscher Rechtshoheit.

Assign a persistent identifier to your research data, thus making it citeable.

OAI Provider

RADAR supports the Open Archives Initiative (OAI) and implements the OAI-PMH service to provide access to public articles metadata.

Cooperation Partners

FIZ Karlsruhe acts as a RADAR operator and contract partner.

TIB Hannover, as the DOI registrar and German DataCite member, is responsible for DOI registration. Further TIB also performs consulting, training and marketing tasks for RADAR together with FIZ Karlsruhe.

Three copies of the data are stored at different geographical locations in the data centers of the Steinbuch Center for Computing (SCC) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and in the Center for Information Services and High Performance Calculation (ZIH) at TU Dresden.
